This tall bowl has carved lotus petals that accentuate the tapering walls. It is covered in a glassy olive-green glaze, which stops short of the foot. The light buff colour of the unglazed foot suggests that Vietnamese potters used well-refined clay for high quality vessels, which in this case was probably used for tea drinking. Although many similarities can be found between Chinese and Vietnamese ceramics of this period, different materials often resulted in tactile and visual qualities that were unique to Vietnamese wares.
