This pendant is shaped like an insect, which symbolises abundance. Nonyas (Peranakan women) were fond of jewellery, which was worn as a display of wealth especially on ceremonial occasions. Some of the most exquisite jewellery was for use during the Peranakan wedding ceremony. Aside from pendants, their accessories include bracelets, anklets, earrings, belts and buckles, rings, kerosang (set of brooches on blouse) and hairpins.
