This is a paper bag provided to customers of the Empress Restaurant (Huang Hou Jiu Lou 皇后酒楼) who purchased mooncakes baked by the restaurant.. The bag marks the era when the restaurant branded itself as the ‘Queen of Mooncakes’ amid the competition it faced from other mooncake production houses including Chinese restaurants such as Tai Tong Restaurant. Aside from mooncakes, the restaurant was also known to host weddings for the Hainan community in Singapore. The restaurant was also part of the Singapore Restaurant Trade Association (Xin Jia Po Jiu Lou Shang Gong Hui新加坡酒楼商公会) in Singapore.
