Established in 1919, Wen Cheong was opened by Peng Bai Wei, who was one of the founders in setting up the Singapore Gold and Silver Merchants Association (now known as Singapore Jewellers Association). This receipt contains the Chinese characters “Xin Jia Po Yong Chang (xin) Si Ren You Xian Gong Si (星嘉坡永昌（星）私人有限公司)”.
