This bolero jacket was sewn and embroidered by the donor during her sewing lessons at Haig Girls’ School, where the students were expected to complete one sewing project each year. This jacket was her Primary 6 project. She was provided with a sewing pattern and fabric for the jacket but had to research embroidery patterns on her own. The floral embroidery on the jacket was therefore designed by the donor. Bolero jackets had been popular during the 1950s-60s to wear over sleeveless dresses. Besides the jacket, the donor’s primary school sewing projects included an embroidered stool, bag, cushion covers and a tablecloth.
