Gift of Basil Clarence Pereira
This membership card belonged to Mr Basil Clarence Pereira, who joined the Amalgamated Union of Public Employees (AUPE) in 1960 while working for the Singapore Telephone Board. Established in 1959 following the merger of The Postal and Telecommunications Uniformed Staff Union and the Singapore Union of Postal and Telecommunication Workers, the AUPE sought to protect the well-being of its members.
