This is a set of hand drawn illustrations of “The Twenty-Four Filial Exemplars” (二十四孝) on tracing paper. The set contains 16 pieces of tracing paper. The illustrations are used as part of the process of crafting Chinese stainless steel metal signs that are displayed by clan associations during the funerals of their deceased members as a form of tribute. Metal signs are also widely used for decorative purposes on hearses or used on backdrops of Seventh Month Festival celebrations. Such signs are also found as part of the altars within Chinese shrines and temples whilst lion dance troupes incorporate the metal signs as part of their drum, suona and gong stands.
