Under the Wind 2

Under the Wind 1 and 2 capture Han Sai Por's perception of a forest's energetic movements. Utilising the photo intaglio printmaking method, the work is from a composition of textured mulberry paper placed onto a surface. These body of artworks were produced during her residency at STPI - Creative Workshop & Gallery. Han reinvigorated her creative approach with new material possibilities with STPI’s in-house paper mill, exchanging her signature mediums of stone and marble with paper pulps soft in nature. Under the Wind 1 and 2 (2022) emphasise a metaphorical projection of the forest, rather than a figurative representation. As with her practice, Han is constantly inspired by the flora and fauna in tropical forests of Southeast Asia. Highlighting our need to deepen our appreciation of nature, her practice often references the ever-changing landscape in the region, the environment, and the ecosystems.
