This Panasonic laser disc player (LX-K770) was able to play laser discs and compact discs. The laser disc was a 30 cm diameter optical disc storage format for videos, released in 1978. In Singapore, it was used for home entertainment, karaoke and educational purposes, mainly in the 1990s. Compared to videotapes, laser discs offered better resolution and chapter markers, but were more costly. The donor Ryan Lim’s family acquired the laser disc player in the 1990s for home entertainment.
