This lilac bag by Bebe Seet features rare antique manek potong (faceted beads) on its flap. Manek potong are favoured for its sparkling effect. Three floral motifs nestle among repeated patterns that resemble floor tiles. With the beadwork done in her shop, Rumah Bebe, the beaded face was then customised into a bag by a company of third-generation local artisans who specialises in leather accessories and repair. Bebe Seet also made a pair of heels of matching design.Bebe Seet is the founder of Rumah Bebe, a boutique that offers Peranakan cuisine and fashion. As a Singaporean Peranakan designer specialising in beaded shoes and bags, she has also been conducting beading classes since 1995. She is well-known for reviving the art of Peranakan beadwork from the 1990s, and for having one of the most exquisite workmanship on Peranakan beadwork.
