This Prescription Book belongs to John Dick, a Scottish pharmacist who was working with Federal Dispensary Ltd in their Singapore branch at the time that the island fell to the Japanese forces in 1942. He was subsequently interned in Changi and Sime Road Camp, where he was assigned to the Camp Dispensary. This Prescription Book details the records of fellow internees who sought treatment, and the medication that was given to them. Due to limited access to pharmaceutical materials in the camp, much of the medication issued was a mixture of Kaolin obtained from the camp hillside and herbs grown in the Dispensary's garden.
