Founded in 1950, the Kamala Club is a club for Indian women, and was first established at the junction of Rangoon and Moulmein Road, with Mrs Checha Davies as its founding president. The clubhouse was built with funds donated by Indian businessmen and other groups, with activities ranging from performances, charity events and social gatherings. It’s objectives are to promote social, charitable, cultural activities among the local Indian Community and various under-privileged groups in Singapore. This rulebook lists out the rules that members of the Kamala Club were expected to follow, and is an important record of the activities of one of the earliest women's organisations established by the Indian community in Singapore.
