This photograph shows a group of Indonesian women decked out in their uniform at a training centre that trains and equips them with the skills and knowledge required for them to work overseas as domestic helpers. Typically located in Jakarta, or on the outskirts of Indonesia’s capital city, such training centres would be the home of these Indonesian women for up to six months, where they learn to cook, clean, look after the young and old, as well as studying foreign languages including English and Mandarin, depending on where they are headed for. Very often, trainees are given different coloured shirts to wear, with each representing the destination they are bound for.
