When the circuit breaker first started in Singapore in April 2020, the local arm of the global community of artists who draw on location, Urban Sketchers Singapore, launched the #circuitsketchbreak challenge to encourage its members to produce one sketch a day for 28 days.A member of Urban Sketchers Singapore, Serene Ong created her own sketch journals in response to this challenge, using sketches and watercolours to depict her observations and daily routine over the circuit breaker period. Ong's entries from these sketchbooks depicted her daily routine and observations during this period, ranging from a drawing of the barricaded playground to the ingredients she used in her cooking at home, scenes that have become ubiquitous in this “new normal”.
