'Ibu' ('Mother' in Malay) was a magazine that was published from December 1951 as monthly periodical in Johor, Malaysia, but also received circulation in Singapore. Its title 'Ibu' refers to its target audience - Malay women - but also the growing women's rights movement within the Malay community, and which was referred to as the 'Kaum Ibu' after its forerunning predecessors in the region, particularly in Indonesia. Its contributors include Zahrah Za’ba, who was the first Malay woman radio announcer in Singapore and would become Radio Singapore’s first Head of Malay Programmes.
