Prior to establishing the British trading settlement on Singapore in 1819, Raffles was Lieutenant Governor of Java from 1811 to 1816. This book publishes Raffles’ minute regarding the introduction of his land rental reforms to Java, and was privately printed by Raffles. This is Raffles’ own copy of the book with his bookplate affixed to the inner cover.
