Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles established a British East India Company trading factory in Singapore in 1819. This letter is written in 1834 by his nephew William Charles Raffles Flint to his cousin the Revd Thomas Raffles, from Geneva when Flint was staying with Raffles’ widow Lady Sophia Raffles.
