Nokia 3310 mobile phone

The Nokia 3310 mobile phone was first released in 2000 and was marketed as a customisable consumer handset targeting the youth. It introduced a new instant messaging-like feature that allowed users to send and receive short message service (SMS) messages three times the length of a standard SMS message. It also included features such as calculator, games, as well as customisable ringtones and screensavers. These features shifted the perception of mobile phones from a telecommunication device to a personal multi-functional device.
