Small earthenware pots like this one are often found in pre-historic gravesites in the Philippines. They usually contain personal objects such as jewellery, ornaments, metal tools, or the remains of food offerings – objects the deceased would need in the afterlife. Such wares are usually decorated with simple patterns inscribed into the clay while still soft, or applied with clay strips or other shapes.
