Portrait of a man taken at New World

This portrait was taken at New World, as evidenced by the embossing at the left hand bottom corner of the photograph. New World was the first of three amusement parks in Singapore, also known as the Worlds, which opened in 1923. Located in Jalan Bear, New World was a space that offered entertainment such as open-air movies, boxing matches and cabaret shows. The Worlds were especially popular among Singaporeans during the 1960s.
