Gift of Julia Ho and Bessie Lee
This mahjong tile set belonged to Mr and Mrs Lee Swee Cheng. Mr Lee Swee Cheng was a prominent stockbroker and Mrs Elsie Lee served as President of the Chinese Women’s Assocation in 1961 and 1962. Mahjong was only played with close friends, and this was one of a pair in play at their house on Pasir Panjang Hill. This green set was used by the men; and the set, in pink, was used by the wives.
