The SCCCLU (full name unknown) was a labour union for cleaners and it was likely to be under the Government and City Council Labour Union. Members of the Government and City Council Labour Union were mostly Indian daily-rated workers who cleaned up the city and collected garbage. In June 1955, the union threatened to go on strike over demands of back pay they made a year ago. They began their strike in August and invited Mr Lee Kuan Yew to be their legal adviser. Eventually, the union won substantial concessions. It was later dissolved on 4 April 1960.
