New Life

A self-taught photographer, Lee Sow Lim was active in the salon circuit in the 1950s and 1960s. He had also participated in many exhibitions overseas. Lee was one of the earliest photographers to use infra-red film and is also an excellent darkroom technician. Large darkroom prints are very rare as most enlargers are unable to cope with the scale. Lee had to customise the developing trays so as to fit the paper size of these prints. This is a fine example of some of the largest silver prints by a Singaporean photographer that have been discovered to date. They are very fine examples of photos shot using infra-red film.
