This notebook features silver clasps embossed with the monogram of the Dutch East India company, known as the Vereenigde Oost Indische Compagnie or VOC. Such notebooks were made for VOC Directors to distribute as gifts to friends and relations. The front cover is adorned with an oval rococo cartouche enclosing an East Indiaman under sail. It also contains a 1792 almanac published in Amsterdam by Meindert van Dam.
