This pair of embroidered slippers for men is decorated with metallic thread and sequins on maroon velvet. The upper part of the slipper face is decorated with phoenix motif and the border shows aquatic creatures. The sole of the slippers are stamped with the mark of ‘ENGSENGCHIANG’ and floral motifs. They were worn by a Peranakan Chinese groom from Malacca. The groom would have worn these slippers with Chinese style wedding clothes.
