Petir (Malay for "lightning") is the party organ of the People's Action Party (PAP) and its first issue was launched in 1956. In this September 1965 issue, one month after Singapore's independence, Petir reflects the concerns of Singapore as a young and small state, as well as outlining the tenets of Singapore's multiculturalism and foreign policy during this period.
