View of Raffles Place at the corner of Bonham Street

This is a late 19th century view of Battery Road, at the corner of Bonham Street at Raffles Place. The building on the left house the Dispensary, established in 1879 by Dr John Hutchinson. By this time, rickshaws had overtaken horse-driven carriages or gharries as the primary mode of public transport in Singapore, as is evident in this picture.
