In 1821, the Dutch launched an expedition against Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin of Palembang, who had been hostile against Dutch. The expedition was successful, and the Sultan is depicted in this print being escorted to the Dutch vessel Joanna, later to be exiled to Ternate. This aquatint was produced by J. A. Lutz, after an original work by H. P. Oosterhuis.
