Silver Dutch East India Company Ingot

This silver ingot was salvaged from the wreck of the Dutch East Indiamen Rooswijk, which was shipwrecked off the coast of England in 1739. The ship, which had left Texel the day before, was bound for Batavia (present day Jakarta). Such ingots were used by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) for their trade in Asia for spices and textiles.
