Nanyang University Students’ Union Variety Concert pamphlet

The Nanyang University Students' Union Variety Concert held at the Victoria Theatre and the Happy World Stadium in March 1959 and April 1959 respectively, formed part of the concert series to celebrate the anniversary of the University's Inaugural Ceremony and to raise funds for the construction of a Student Union Building. According to this pamphlet, the concert programme line-up included Chinese, Malay and Indian folk dances. These three races were acknowledged as the main races in Malaya. The concert conveyed messages of racial tolerance and multi-culturalism, as well as emphasized the concepts of Malaya and Malayan culture.
