"New Hygiene" (新卫生) Chinese textbook, Book Two

In the 1970s, the primary schools placed emphasis on ensuring that the children were eating well and maintaining good hygiene standards through these textbooks. This inclusion of health and hygiene in the school curriculum was most likely aligned to the government's concern with public health, and medical issues such as dental care, heart problems, disease control, anti-drug abuse and thus, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle in the 1970s. It was also during this period that various health and anti-drug campaigns were rolled out.
