Set of three Chinese textbooks on "Nature" (自然), Book 6, and "Hygiene" (卫生), Book 5 and Book 6

"Nature" and "Hygiene" were two of the subjects covered in primary schools from the late 1940s. After World War II, the content within the Chinese textbooks gradually shifted from a Nanyang focus to Malayan, in terms of the images and references used in the books. By 1961, the two subjects, "Nature" and "Hygiene" had merged with another subject "General Knowledge" to be known as "Science".
