The Nepenthes rafflesiana, known commonly as the Raffles pitcher plant, was named in honour of Sir Stamford Raffles by his surgeon and botanist William Jack, who described the plant upon the encouragement of Raffles. This coloured print was reproduced in horticultural journal Flore des serres et des Jardins de l'Europe, founded by the Belgian horticulturalist Louis Benoit van Houtte.
