Using leftover materials from the bookbinding studio where he works, the artist layers and compacts offcuts and other paper waste into abstract compositions that reference the Bauhaus style, as well as Indonesian painter Srihadi Soedarsono’s minimalist canvasses. In his work, paper is no longer a secondary element or a planar surface which supports the realization of an artwork; it is treated as a medium unto itself, and harnessed for its formal properties of texture, line, colour and shape.
