This decorative temple hanging is fashioned from old Chinese coins knotted together with string. These are generally called salang pipis or salag jinah in Bali, meaning hanging coin object. The wooden frame bears the image of a Bintulu, a one eyed guardian figure often shown surmounting doors or other entryways.
