This temple hanging or 'pidan' is patterned with warp-ikat designs that include rows of horses, pagodas with Buddha images and elephants, flanked by apsaras (heavenly female attendants). It includes red, yellow, white and green colours on a black ground. Fabrics of this type were made to adorn temples and were sometimes hung from ceilings above the Buddha images during religious festivities.
