This lithograph based on an original work by French watercolourist and draightsman Louis Auguste de Sainson depicts the uniforms of a soldier of the Malay military and an officer of the Bourgeois guard at Ambon. De Sainson's works were produced while part of the expedition of the Astrolabe led by Jules D'Urville between 1826 and 1829.
