Gift of Ms. Sophie Kho, in memory of mother Sylvia Kho

This is a lace sample, consisting of both pink and white lace patterns. The attached tag reads 'A. RIECHERS & FILS CALAIS . PARIS'. It belonged to Sylvia Kho, one of Singapore's earliest bridal designers, and would have been used in her various bridal gowns. Although she had learnt Peranakan beadwork and sewing from her mother, she was best known for her western-style wedding gowns. Her dresses were known for their quality, and she would personally source lace and other materials on her trips to Europe and USA. At her peak Sylvia Kho operated three boutiques, and its clientele included brides of wealthy businessmen, politicians, and members of royalty from the region. She was inducted into the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame in 2017.
