This simple gold chain would have been strung through more elaborate beads and would have formed part of a bridal trousseau for a Peranakan wedding.It is part of a group donation from descendants of Tan Kim Seng and Tan Jiak Kim. Both were wealthy merchants, philanthropists and leaders of the local Hokkien community.
