Prisoners in the Changi P.O.W camp kept their spirits up and their minds occupied by putting on shows. The souvenir programme for "Cinderella and the Magic Soya Bean. A Burlesque pantomime by Alan Roberts" [with scenes and costumes designed by Ronald Searle] is an example of one such show. The programme includes 3 pages of typescript, upper cover an original pen and coloured ink design signed by Ronald Searle. This artefact is part of the archive of James Steele, Royal Artillery (Field) who served in Malaya from January 1941-February 1942, when interned as a P.O.W at Changi until his release in October 1945.
