This glass pitcher bears a crest made up of two crowned lions flanking a globe and the inscription ‘New World Cabaret Singapore’. New World was the first amusement park in Malaya when Ong Boon Tat opened it in 1923. It was popular for its many attractions including an air-conditioned cabaret with a large dance floor. Ong Boon Tat was a prominent businessman who held the offices of Justice of the Peace and Municipal Commissioner until his death in 1941.
