The Plebeian Express was the party organ of the Barisan Sosialis. The Plebeian was launched in 1962, stating in its introductory editorial that it would “provide a forum for the expression of the views of our working people – the most important section of our people”. Permits were granted by the Singapore government in 1966 for the Barisan Sosialis to publish the newsletter.
