This is a poster from Singapore Peranakan playwright Robert Yeo’s 1997 play, Changi. It was the third play in a trilogy of plays, known collectively as “The Singapore Trilogy”. These three plays dealt with the sensitive issues surrounding the political scene in Singapore over three decades and dealt with issues of identity and nationalism. Robert Yeo was born in 1940 to a Peranakan family and grew up with his grandparents in their family homes in Haig Road and Valley Road in Hougang. He has been lauded as being “the most Singaporean of Singaporean writers”.
