The NUS Coat of Arms plaque

This plaque featuring the NUS Coat of Arms was meant to symbolise the merger of the former University of Singapore and Nanyang University in 1980, to become the National University of Singapore. The Kent Ridge site became the new home for the University. The then President of the Republic of Singapore, Dr Benjamin Sheares, become NUS' first Chancellor. This set of artefacts was part of the selection in the time capsule buried in 1990 by then DPM Ong Teng Cheong to celebrate Singapore’s 50th anniversary of independence in 2015.
