This is a 1999 programme of Pearlly Chua’s performance of Emily of Emerald Hill in Georgetown, Penang. Pearlly Chua is a Malaysian actress who has played the role of Emily Gan more times than any other actress. She has acted in the play almost annually since 1990.Stella Kon is an award-winning Singapore playwright whose most important work was the 1983 one-woman play, Emily of Emerald Hill. She is also a descendent of two prominent Peranakan philanthropists, Tan Tock Seng and Dr Lim Boon Keng.
