This is the programme of the Singapore Arts Festival 2010, with the image of Dr Margaret Chan as the title character of Stella Kon’s play. This year marked a reprisal of the role of Emily Gan for Dr Chan, the first Singaporean to originate the role of Emily on Singapore stages. Stella Kon is an award-winning Singapore playwright whose most important work was the 1983 one-woman play, Emily of Emerald Hill. She is also a descendent of two prominent Peranakan philanthropists, Tan Tock Seng and Dr Lim Boon Keng.
