This is an inscribed copy of “The Four Books of Confucius” belonging to prominent Peranakan, Dr Lim Boon Keng. It was passed down to his great granddaughter, Stella Kon. Dr Lim was medical doctor and leader in the Straits Chinese community. He co-founded the Straits Chinese British Association and Singapore Chinese Girls School. Stella Kon is an award-winning Singapore playwright whose most important work was the 1983 one-woman play, Emily of Emerald Hill. She is also a descendent of two prominent Peranakan philanthropists, Tan Tock Seng and Dr Lim Boon Keng.
