The Speak Mandarin Campaign was started in 1979 to encourage Singaporean Chinese to communicate with each other using Mandarin rather than the various dialects. This booklet promoting this campaign was published by the Ministry of Culture, and contains reasons for the use of Mandarin as well as conversational examples for daily use.
