It is not known for sure what this enigmatic terracotta figure was used for but the hollow in the head suggests that it may have been a libation cup for ceremonial use. Its ample bust and sensual form suggest that those rites may have related to fertility. Such “fertility goddess” figures are a common feature in widely spread prehistoric societies.
