Hunt scenes were popular decorations on Chinese export porcelain in the 18th century, and were often based on European prints. The two scenes here are set under a blue diaper-patterned border edged with spearheads. In one, hunters on horseback close in for the kill on a hapless fox pinned down by their faithful hounds. On the interior two hunters stand with their dogs in a landscape.
